(1) Location: Select the best roof locations for the Fan & Solar Panel. The Fan should be located 4 or more shingle rows below the Ridge. The Solar Panel needs to be within cord length, but can be on another roof; South or West Roof will give best performance. (The Fan & SP can be as much as 90’ feet apart. Custom length cables are available from Distributor or Factory. (2) Testing: With the Solar Panel facing the sun, Plug the fan and SP together. Face SP directly at Sun. Fan should run quietly. Speed will be faster with more sun- less speed if cloudy. (3) Cut Hole: Locate center of Fan hole, (between trusses), and approx 24” to 30” below ridge cap shingles. Drill ½” to 1” hole through shingles and roof decking. Use reciprocating saw, and cut right and left horizontally for a slot a total of 18” long. This is the diameter of the hole for the Fan. Cut shingles and 18” Diameter hole through roof deck and shingles. (4) Remove Shingles: Remove Shingles for about 12”-15” either side of hole. Carefully remove and save 5 rows of shingles above the center of hole. Carefully remove and save 2 rows of shingles below the center of hole. Remove any remaining old nails exposed. Bull old nail holes.
